C.R.Bubba Stahl, D.Min, Pastor

Bubba Shahl was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 16, 1953. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior when he was six years old and was baptized on March 30, 1960, at Trinity Baptist Church, San Antonio. Bubba graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Houston in 1971 and went to Texas A&I University in Kingsville, where he met and fell in love with Beth Grim of Harlingen. They were married on July 1, 1972. "All I ever wanted to be was a cowboy."

Bubba was able to achieve that childhood dream by living and working on several ranches during the first ten years of their marriage. Ben, their first son, was born February 1977, and Dan, their second son, was born November 3, 1978. On August 7, 1982, everything changed for the Stahl family. "We were living down on the Texas/Mexico border in a little place called El Endio, which is in between Eagle Pass and Laredo, when God called me into the ministry." Dr. Buckner Fanning, Bubba's pastor at Trinity, once said, "We know that it had to have been God who called Bubba, because no one else knew who he was."

The Stahl family moved to Abilene, where Bubba completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at Hardin-Simmons University. He then went on to earn master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in fort Worth. Bubba was pastor at four churches during his years in school: Calvary, Rotan; New Prospect, Glen Rose; First, Breckenridge; and Parkway, College Station. The Stahl family moved to Boerne in 1992 when Bubba accepted a call to First Baptist, Boerne. For the last three and one-half years, he served First Baptist Church, Corpus Christi.
Bubba's passion for missions was mirrored in his D. Min. project in Uganda, East Africa, among pastors and church leaders in that country. His training manual for pastors has been translated into three African dialects and has been used to train over 4,000 pastors and church leaders. Hundreds of new churches have been planted in Uganda as a result of this training.
Bubba's personal mission statement is to experience God each day and to help others become like Jesus by serving them.

Steve Leftwich, Worship & Prayer

Steve Leftwich grew up in the ministry of Hyde Park Baptist Church in Austin, TX, after being saved at the early age of 6.  He responded to God's call to full-time Christian service in 8th grade and found his future wife at Lanier High School in Austin.  He married Glenda McGill in 1974, received his BA from the University of Texas in 1977 and went on to earn a Master of Church Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1981.

Steve served for many years as a Music/Youth Minister in churches throughout Texas and Virginia.  He eventually became a full-time youth minister and was instrumental in developing youth programs still in use today.  As a full-time music minister, he draws on both his formal music training and the spirited praise that grew from working with youth.

Steve and Glenda have three children and seven grandchildren.  They reside on a ranch near Lake Victor, Texas.

Greg Lewis,  Education & Children

Greg Lewis has served as the Associate Pastor of Education and Children at FBC Kingsland since May 2001. Greg is married to Jill and they have two children, Matthew and Madison. They live in Granite Shoals. Greg grew up in Burleson, Texas. He attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Jill also attended Howard Payne University, where she received a degree in Elementary Education. She is a teacher at the Marble Falls First Baptist Church Christian School.

Greg’s personal mission statement is:  To allow Jesus to express Himself through me as I lead others to allow Jesus to express Himself through them. His favorite Scripture verses are Galatians 2:20 and Proverbs 3:5-6.

Greg believes that Christian education begins in the home. Attitudes, values, character and theology are all established in the home. He believes that the church should be a partner to equip and encourage parents to train their children to be godly.

He is responsible for overseeing the small group ministry, discipleship courses, children’s ministries and enlisting and training volunteer leaders, as well as handling some administration. His objective is to develop disciples that make disciples. Greg believes that his role as a minister is to be a servant and an equipper. He desires to help followers of Jesus discover where God is at work and then join Him there and allow God to work through them.
