Should I make a donation to get my Free copy?

No, however, IF, after you have installed the software onto your computer at home (and after you have made legal free copies of the CDROM for yourself and your friends), you can do two things:
  1. If you find the CDROM useful, tell someone.
  2. You may wish to return the CDROM back to the library to save us the cost of replenishing the library of CDROMs currently in the library.  (We try to keep at least 10 copies on-hand.)
Copies for my Friends?  Is that Legal?
The material on the e-Sword CD is copyrighted and you must adhere to the copyrights on the CD, however you may make copies for yourself or your friends as long as you don't charge any money or receive any compensation for it.  The material is meant for free distribution to Christians so that they might read and understand the word of God.

This is pretty cool.  Who did this?

The material on this CD was created by Rick Meyers who wrote the front-end software and obtained permissions from various sources to include this material for free. A history of his work leading to the creation of this CDROM can be found at his website.

What other free software is available on CDROM from the Library?

Audio Bible - Listen to the bible on your computer.
This two CDROM set of the the entire old and new testament is available in the library as well. This is the World English Bible version of the bible which many consider to be easier to listen to than other versions and is a predecessor to the American Standard Version but is unusual in that it is a modern language version which is free of royalty and copyright infringements. If you have a CDROM burner, you can use this software to create CDROMs that you can play in your Stereo CD player (although only 72 minutes can be recorded on a single CD - about half of the book of Matthew, for example. )You can make a copy for yourself or friends. If after checking out and installaing a copy, as a courtesy you can (if you wish) return the CDROM to the Library for others to use.
